College BASE, a test of general education, assesses knowledge and skills in four subject areas: English, mathematics, science, and social studies. College BASE also measures three cross-disciplinary competencies: interpretive reasoning, strategic reasoning, and adaptive reasoning.
Questions on College BASE reflect the broad range of knowledge that most universities and colleges, including junior and community colleges, expect their students to acquire by the end of the sophomore year. The test emphasizes thought processes; broad concepts; and major figures, movements, and institutions. Because of the breadth of this examination, you should not study for College BASE the way you do for a test in a specific course.
The CBASE is offered twice each semester by Mrs. Cheryl Downey-Eber at the Missouri University of Science and Technology on two Saturdays each semester, and once in the Summer. The testing center is located in 203 Norwood Hall, and you MUST sign up at least three weeks prior to the test dates. Call Cheryl at (573) 341-4222 or e-mail cherylde@mst.edu to sign up, and she will let you know where and when the test will be administered.
You must have a 265 on each part of the CBASE. If you have to take one part over, you will be required to pay the full amount, so you should prepare to pass the first time. You will pay at the testing session, and if you sign up, you must take the test.
